Your first physiotherapy visit: what to expect

Part of our Move Well series — how we structure an initial assessment, what to bring, and how to get the most from day one.

1 min read

Walking into a new clinic can feel like a lot of unknowns. This post is the first in our Move Well series — practical guides built around how we actually work with patients.

Before you arrive

  • Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
  • Bring a list of medications or relevant reports if you have them.
  • Jot down when symptoms started and what makes them better or worse.

During the session

We start with conversation: your goals, daily routine, and what success looks like for you. Then we look at movement and strength in context — not in isolation.

You don’t need to “perform” or guess the right answers. Honest, everyday detail helps us tailor your plan.

After the visit

You should leave with a clearer picture of why we’re recommending certain steps, and a short list of what to try before your next appointment.
